Semi-Custom V1 Options
1. Choose your Cherry MX Switch type:
Cherry MX Blue - Audible click with tactile bump. 50cN actuation. This switch is popular among professional typists around the world. The audible click is reminiscent of the older mechanical keyboards which used to be the norm. Not for use in libraries.
Cherry MX Brown - Tactile bump. 45cN actuation. The Browns are sort of a "quiet" version of the MX Blues. The light tactile bump still tells your fingers when the switch has been activated. No clicking makes it much more favorable for those typing in close proximity to others or in environments where noise may be an issue.
Cherry MX Black - Linear action. 60cN actuation. Due to the stiffer spring, this switch has found its way into many gaming keyboards. While it may take it little more finger strength to press this switch, it also means it resets quicker making it more desirable when rapid presses of the same key are required. The feel of the switch is smooth throughout the keystroke.
Cherry MX Red - Linear action. 45cN actuation. The Red switches provide a light, but smooth keystroke. Although this switch has the same actuation force as the Browns, it feels much lighter due to the linear action.
2. Chose your laser print method: (See Example)
Laser Etched - Produces a contrasting mark on the surface with little to no physical change in the "feel" of the keycap.
Engraved - Produces a low contrast outline of the legend by creating a small channel in the keycap. You will be able to feel the channels from the engraving.
3. Choose your key layout style:
Various key layouts are available in various languages to so you can select the layout style that want. To view all our available layouts, please visit our Keyboard Layout Files page.
4. Choose your keycap options
With our Semi-Custom Keyboards, you can select from a limited set of color options include the main keycap color, Esc, and WASD keys. (Note: 104-Key Layout is pictured, but the key locations are the same.)

5. Option to install switch dampeners
"Bottoming out" is a term used to describe when a key stroke is pressed all the way down causing the inside of your key cap to hit the top of the switch. This causes an additional clack from the collision. Switch dampeners are soft rubber O-rings that we install onto every single keycap to cushion the landing of the keycap. This also very slightly reduces the max travel distance of the switch. (Less than 0.5mm)
This modification is enjoyed by typers who usually bottom out their key strokes. The dampeners will cut away extra noise and shock from bottoming out.
