iPad compatibility Review by Colin

There's already a million generic reviews for this keyboard so here's something for a very specific, minor percentage of people (which may just be me and one other person).

I was really interested in the keyboard for the ability to physically map the caps lock to ctrl for devices that don't support that natively (e.g. iOS devices). While this does work great the problem is that the keyboard, on initialization, doesn't PWM the LEDs (or however they're controlling them) so they're at full brightness for just a moment when you first plug it in. Once the microcontroller initializes the LEDs resume their previous state however, before then, iOS senses that the device is drawing too much power and cuts off the keyboard. Using a powered USB hub "solves" the problem (in that you can actually use the keyboard, even though iOS still displays a warning), however it's not very practical or portable.

It's certainly a fantastic keyboard (as others have said) and works well is OS X (including ctrl-shift-fn-printscn to simulate ctrl-shift-eject). I just wanted to make sure that one other person out there knew you'll have to stick with your bluetooth, rubber dome keyboard for iOS. :-/ (Posted on 9/27/13)
Great feel but a few things to consider Review by PT

The code keyboard feels great to type. Each key press is positive and responsive. There is a positive clicking noise but it's not too loud. The backlighting is very clear, even and bright. Some issues I've struck -

1. This keyboard is very high. A full 6mm higher than my previous keyboard. I use a wrist guard and I need to put a book under it to reach the level.

2. Keys with multiple symbols have the symbols side-by-side (to enable even lighting) which makes them hard to visually scan.

3. With the backlighting off, its hard to read the symbols. To enable backlighting you need to enable the function keys on the dipswitches, then use the right key combo (why not default it on?)

4. The fn key is on the right, as are all the functions. This makes them hard to use quickly. It would have been nice to replace the caps lock with function key.

5. The 3 status LEDS have no markings and don't seem to have much use as they can't been seen unless you look down onto them.

Overall this is a nice keyboard once you get used to it. (Posted on 9/15/13)
Fantastic mechanical keyboard lacking one key feature Review by Jim

First off, I love the keyboard - its forcing me to type correctly and is actually making me a better typist - the height of the keys are keeping me from being lazy and using poor keyboard shortcuts. Rather, I am forced to type correctly, and I think Im getting faster.

The one this this keyboard could really use is 1-2 USB ports. I use a wireless mouse, and I would have loved to be able to plug the dongle into the keyboard, and forget about it.

Finally, the ability to convert this keyboard to Mac-style is the killer app. Well worth the money. (Posted on 9/12/13)

This is my first mechanical keyboard (well since the 90's). I just thought I wasn't a good typist, but now I know the difference a keyboard can make. I love the backlit keys and the solid feel. The only problem is now I'm spoiled and I need one for home as well. (Posted on 9/11/13)
Absolutely stunning Review by Jello

So clean, crisp, and sexy.

This was my first time trying Cherry MX Clears. As a heavy fingered typer where I would usually bottom out the keys of an MX Blue keyboard, I didn't have that problem with this keyboard. My typing accuracy also increased as I made less typos since brushing my finger over a key wouldn't make actuate it.

As for the design, this is simply what everyone has been waiting for. A minimalist clean design with a back-lit keyboard.

However, I do wish this keyboard was a tiny bit lower like a das. However, that is just nitpicking this keyboard since it is the definition of perfection. (Posted on 9/11/13)
