Good keyboard though steep price Review by tsm
Rating
Good keyboard though steep price but defiantly worth it. Just moved from a Filco FKBN87M/EB2to WASD V2 87-Key, both brown, and tenkeyless.

I'm loving the WASD over the FILCO. The brown switches appear to be more responsive than the FILCO's.

On another topic, I'm adoring the DVORAK layout over QWERTYv (Posted on 12/31/14)
Near Perfect! Review by IF 6 WAS 9

I have the 87 Key custom with black switches & blue o-rings and The Code. Both keyboards are nearly perfect. I'm not sure why anyone would want to buy from the other manufacturers when they could have a WASD.

I was looking for a minimalist mechanical keyboard with black switches, PS/2 support, and Led's. Unfortunately, I still haven't found such a device. I wish WASD keyboards were available with led's or The Code was available with a choice of switches because that would be perfect. (Posted on 12/26/14)

I ordered the Red switches with no O rings.
I absolutely love it- it's as smooth as butter.

TLDR: I'm extremely pleased. This really is as good as it gets. The keyboard
Is very sturdy and tastefully designed(plate-mounted switches, low-key aesthetic). Express
shipping was fast and reliable. You get your money's worth. Highly recommended.

Great:
-Plate mounted!
-DIP Switches!
-EXTREMELY sturdy
-Blue switches feel amazing
-No-bullshit, low-key design
-Express shipping (well packaged, swift delivery)
-Presentation (minimal, tasteful box design)
-Included keycap-puller and PS/2 adapter

OK:
-ANSI Layout (keycaps are easier to find than ISO)
-Micro-USB Cable (a plus if you have a lot of mobile devices)
-Blue switches are great but I wish I went with green(heavier, hence more tactile)
-I should have bought a laptop with a PS/2 port haha

Buying options I'd like to see in the future:
-Lazer-etched keycaps
-Side-printed keycaps
-Chassis color options
-Choice of plastic color underneath keys
-Choice of Backlighting
-Braided cables
-PBT Keys
-60% layout option
-Travel cases (Posted on 12/10/14)

This is my second mechanical keyboard...

I have a Das Keyboard in the office, red switches, which is extraordinary and exactly what I need (as a programmer or so). I was so happy about it that I have decided to buy another mechanical keyboard for home. And... Das Keyboard would have been my choice again, by far.
However, at home, my desk is rather small and it has quite an antique look (because of its 30 years or... just because of its dark wooden finish). Das Keyboard simply does not belong on this desk.

The trick is that I am from Romania and I prefer ordering from EU. Orders from US (or from elsewhere) have higher transport prices, extra taxes and long delivery time. Therefore, I was not looking to the US market and had no clue that something unique like WASD exists. Even when I found them, I thought many times over and over whether I should order this keyboard or not. I liked everything about it, except the US ordering part, mainly translated to $100 extra cost.

Now, I am looking at it (actually typing on it) and I am simply happy. It has the proper size for my desk and has a classic (old-fashioned maybe) design, with grays and little white, orange ESC and blue arrows. It fits perfectly, it feels perfectly, it sounds perfectly. And I always smile when I notice the ESC key glowing like a piece of carrot. Indeed, the colors and the texture of the keys are perfect.

My WASD keyboard has brown switches; it feels and sounds different than the red Das Keyboard. I don't know which one I like most overall; I tried several times to decide but failed to. But, for sure, WASD keyboard looks much better, with its matte black body and beautiful keys; they feel a bit like satin and the desk lamp makes them even look dressed in satin.

The WASD service was excellent and the order was delivered faster than promised -- in 5 days the keyboard was produces and already in Romanian customs. After another 15 days I managed to get it. The box was in excellent condition and the keyboard very well protected.

Unfortunately, I will never need another keyboard (the bad thing about mechanical ones); but, one day maybe, I might order some keycaps from WASD; they convinced me with the quality and their unique great look.

Thank you, WASD! (Posted on 11/26/14)

I love this keyboard! Review by Carl

I have been using cheap, off-the-shelf membrane keyboards for years, with key caps physically swapped to the Dvorak layout. However, finding keyboards on which you can swap key caps without messing up the profile of the keyboard is not a trivial undertaking. The membrane keyboards I've been using were sold by a company which is now out of business (I bought the last 3 keyboards they had in stock).

Another thing - swapped keys work fine once you're inside an OS which lets you change the "system-wide" keyboard mappings (like Linux or Windows). But I've always had trouble with console apps which authenticate via usernames/passwords *BEFORE* I am booted into the operating system. Such as McAfee SafeBoot. My stupid, locked-down (no admin rights), politically-correct, government-issued Dell PC boots automatically into McAfee SafeBoot - which only understands QWERTY. So, I keep a USB Qwerty keyboard attached just to authenticate in SafeBoot. Then I switch to my Dvorak keyboard once I'm safely inside Windows. Sheesh! And no, I do not wish to become an OS configuration wizard just to teach SafeBoot to speak Dvorak. Even if I knew what to change, I'm probably prevented from doing so. My PC at work is so locked-down that I can't even move/delete icons on the desktop if they were installed by IT.

Then I stumbled upon some Internet forum comments mentioning WASD custom mechanical keyboards. What's that? You say I can design my own Dvorak keyboard on a web site? Oh Joy of Joys! My prayers have been answered.

WASD let me order a factory-installed Dvorak layout. They colored a specific subset of keys ORANGE at my request (and never even HINTED that they thought I was some kind of a weirdo - which my co-workers do!). WASD installed the mechanical switches I requested (Cherry MX Browns). And they installed O-rings at my request to decrease the clicky volume (for the benefit of the "non-believers" in the area). Best of all, my WASD keyboard has mechanical DIP SWITCHES (!!!) which enable me to output QWERTY while typing in Dvorak! Yay! Now I don't have to be a keyboard configuration rocket scientist. And McAfee SafeBoot is none the wiser.

I love this keyboard! It looks great. It's weighty and substantial (unlike my membrane keyboards). The touch and feel is ridiculously better than any membrane keyboard I've ever used. It also has just the right amount of clickiness - not too much, and not too little. Bottom line, it meets ALL my needs. No muss, no fuss.

Thank you WASD!

Great first keyboard Review by ray

This is my first mech keyboard, and I'm diggin' it. I've had some experience using some other keyboards with a variety of switches, but these clears are next level. The keyboard itself is very, very sturdy. Built well, and almost heavier than my old Logitech G15, which I see as a pro. Will definitely advise any mech keyboard potential buyers to check out these. Solid, extreme high quality keyboard with OUTSTANDING SERVICE Review by Jacob

Right away, the keyboard feels well built. If you pull a keycap off, you can feel the metal plate which everything is built onto. Nothing feels creaky, weak or loosely held together. The feel when typing on the brown switches is awesome. When gaming they are easy to press quickly and double tap. For typing, you can really feel the actuation point when the key registers.

The customer service I have had with WASD has been excellent. All questions I had were responded to via e-mail within 2 hours. When buying a keyboard the customer care many times is overlooked. For me this was one of the most important buying decisions.

Other keyboard companies such as Filco, Ducky, Happy Hands, Logitech, etc..ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT COME CLOSE TO THE SERVICE WASD HAS GIVEN ME!! How do I know? Personal experience speaking to people who own products from these companies.

If you are on the edge of a keyboard purchase, buy from WASD without any second thoughts. You will not regret it! (Posted on 11/12/14)
