WASD VP3 61-Key Custom Mechanical Keyboard

Product Review (submitted on September 22, 2017):
Cherry MX Blue (I like the click)
Modern Layout with function layer
Black Caps

I went kind of vanilla in my options as this was just meant to be a keyboard to lug back and forth to work in my bag. It has replaced the Logitech 710 I was keeping in my toolbox at work for the same purpose.I knew the switches would be perfect for my uses and style what I didn't expect was how much I fell in love with the weight. This little 61 key has the same or likely greater weight than the aforementioned gaming 104 key this along with the small footprint and rubber feet makes it stick rock solid to whatever surface I end up typing on. There is no chasing the keyboard across the table and the lack of movement has noticeably improved my typing accuracy.

On the switches there have been hundreds if not thousands of reviews of the entire Cherry MX line and the blues specifically, so I won't dwell to much on them. My home keyboard has Reds in it I much prefer the satisfying click and tapping of the blues. The biggest difference comes in the mounting there is noticeable flex in the switches in my other keyboards the metal mounting of this leaves no room for such sloppiness.

The design process was simple enough I spent the better part of 2 weeks playing with designs and figuring out all the style options I wanted. In the end I went with something basic and rather plain but decided to get a new set of caps in the future once I get my personal flow dialed in with the standard caps. The multiple layers was a feature I did not expect to put to much use but I find I'm slowly populating the layers with desired actions and specific keys. This keyboard has changed my entire workflow and for the better, the simplicity and sparseness helps me focus on the task at hand.

Ordering was a breeze and shipment was fast enough. Shipping pricing was a bit high, but not out of line compared to other companies, I blame Amazon for this particular gripe. I ordered Early Saturday morning and still had my keyboard in hand Thursday of that week.

There are obviously other similar choices out there but I have to say I have quite fallen for this little keyboard and have every intention of picking up 1 of the bigger keyboards, when it comes time to replace the 1 on my desktop. It hasn't made me a better programmer nor has it improved my typing what it has done, is give me a consistency to work hard and improve myself.
